DOE Responds to IECA Policy Recommendations to Deal the Natural Gas Crisis
Vicky Bailey, Assistant Secretary, Office of Policy and International Affairs responded to IECAs letter of July 15, 2003 thanking IECA for a comprehensive set of policy options addressing natural gas supply and price issues. IECA Letter to Senator Domenici opposes amendment to Clarify State Commissions Authority to Impose Charges for the Retail Sale and Distribution of Electricity to End Use Customers.
The letter says the amendment would increase the cost, if not prevent manufacturers from seeking alternative electricity suppliers by imposing a delivery or non-transmission charge on power purchased at transmission voltage levels. (Click here to download file)

Vickie Bailey, Assistant Secretary, Office of Policy and International Affairs responded to IECAs letter of June 23, 2003 stating support to develop alternatives for use of gas in power generation and improved energy efficiency. Ms.Bailey also said representatives from the White House and several Federal departments and agencies met to discuss IECAs recommendation dealing with options to encourage temporary fuel switching from natural gas.
