IECA is a 501 (C) (6) nonprofit member-led organization created to promote the interests of manufacturing companies for which the availability, use and cost of energy, power or feedstock play a significant role in their ability to compete in domestic and world markets. IECA is a nonpartisan association of leading manufacturing companies with $1.0 trillion in annual sales, over 3,700 facilities nationwide, and with more than 1.7 million employees worldwide.
IECA was founded on the belief that a robust, diverse and affordable supply of energy is required to sustain economic growth, quality of life for our citizens, and the competitiveness of industry.
A Unique Organization
IECA is the only national cross industry trade association dedicated to a broad array of energy/environment related issues. Corporate board members are top energy procurement, environmental, and government affairs managers who are leaders in their industry, technical experts, strongly committed to energy efficiency and environmental progress. IECA membership represents a diverse set of industries including: chemicals, plastics, steel, iron ore, aluminum, paper, food processing, fertilizer, insulation, glass, industrial gases, pharmaceutical, building products, automotive, brewing, independent oil refining, and cement.
IECA provides a unique forum to address state, national and international energy related issues, meet with policy makers and advocate sound policy.
Committed to four areas that are intricately intertwined:
-A robust, diverse and affordable supply of energy, power and feedstock
-Energy efficiency, cogeneration of power & steam; and waste heat recovery
-Climate change policy without loss of competitiveness
-Education of policy makers
Organized by Six Committees
Each committee is focused on policy development, identification and monitoring of issues, and developing and implementing action plans.
1. Natural Gas/Feedstock
2. Electricity/Renewable Energy
5. Commodity Markets
Corporate membership is exclusive to companies who are industrial energy consumers. This allows policy development that truly reflects a “consumers” point of view. Only corporate membership may vote on policy and decisions related to the organization.
A Member of the International Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers (IFIEC)
IFIEC is an international trade association whose members are exclusively industrial energy consumers from 17 countries. This provides valuable global networking and is of particular value to multinational companies. IFIEC has special consultative status as an NGO (Non Governmental Organization) at the United Nations and as such, provides valuable access at international governmental meetings such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, OECD, and the International Energy Agency. IFIEC headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland and meetings are often held at the United Nations building. IECA meets with its global counterparts at least twice per year. Non-US industrial consumers are dealing with many of the same issues that we are here and the informational exchange is very valuable.
IFIEC World members include: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.
